It’s probably safe to say that for most project managers, having responsibility would be one of the upsides of their career choice. And while ownership of project delivery is really important for a PM to take on, it’s really important to not confuse this with simply doing as much as possible alone. Delegating properly is as much a necessary skill for successful project managers as anything.

No one wants their project to fail, but countless projects that have successfully delivered were at one point in time destined for failure. So how can we steady the ship and sail towards successful delivery and ultimately a good strategic outcome for the business?

There’s no magic wand to wave over a project and guarantee it’ll be perfect. In fact projects are almost always imperfect.

Projects are inherently stressful. The role of a project manager can be incredibly rewarding, but any seasoned project manager will tell you that it’s a real up and down adventure.
