Willie has over 20 years of experience as an assurance, risk, governance, and compliance professional. Willie began his career with Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers and has since helped many different organisations establish, refresh and modernise their approach to governance, managing risk, assurance and compliance.

Before joining IQANZ, Willie held several senior roles at Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), including Head of Organisational Performance and General Manager Risk and Assurance. Willie also has over ten years of experience in the private sector, where he worked predominately in the financial services sector with Kiwibank and the Bank of New Zealand.

Willie has been responsible for all aspects of assurance and has helped organisations develop and maintain their assurance and risk practices. Willie appreciates the need for organisations to have good governance and assurance tools and processes but emphasises organisations cultivating the right culture towards governance, risk and assurance.

Willie has led the delivery of independent assurance reviews in benefits realisation, project and programme governance and management, technology and systems transformation, risk management, health and safety, strategy, governance and reporting, policy governance, procurement and contract management, and expenditure management (including sensitive expenditure).
